What do I really need to stay safe?

I've got tor setup,
its running a Socks5 IP from some random blog post.

I plan to buy something with bitcoin ive exchanged my bitcoin to ether and back to bitcoin,
I don't know how effective that is, if it is at all.

What am I missing, I'd like to purchase but im worried about my anonymity
